A warm cup of hot cider is the perfect pairing to a chilled afternoon. This simple recipe is fragrant and serves up great for a crowd. Have it ready at your next Holiday gathering or drink cold for a refreshing picnic lunch.

Serves: 2 Liters of cider

Tools:

Large stock pot

Stirring spoon

Cutting Board

Chef’s knife

Large sieve or sifter

Covered pitcher with lid that seals closed

Ingredients:

2 1 Liter cartons of Pure apple juice (no sugar added)

1 rip orange, sliced in rounds

1 tart apple, sliced in rounds

3-5 cinnamon sticks (depending on how cinnamon-y you like your cider)

1 TBSP whole cloves

To brew the cider:

Put all ingredients in the large stock pot and heat over low flame until boils. Let boil for 15 minutes. Put cover on stock pot and let set for 4 hours for spices and fruits to combine and cider to cool.

Strain the cider in to the pitcher and store in the refrigerator for up to one week. If serving immediately, re-heat and offer in thermos.

This delicious drink is the perfect match to cinnamon sugary pumpkin doughnuts on a crisp autumn day.
